Loose Threads and Missing Medium
Where the hell have I been?
It’s approaching an entire year since I last posted on Medium, which is something that brings me a lot of pain and heartache.
I love to write, and I’m proud of my writing. When I last posted, I was in the throes of my largest and most ambitious work yet; a rewrite of Decent Land from the ground up. This hasn’t been abandoned, just paused for the moment.
Writing is difficult, and in my case takes my all. It’s something I bunker in on and live. It’s honestly not sustainable, and this isn’t the first time that I’ve had to step back, and leave my energy for other projects. I’ve been trying to redecorate my flat (“trying” being the operative word), working on lots of music (some released, some towards an upcoming album) and streaming, as I attempt to get a foothold on the strange platform we call “Twitch”.
All throughout, I’ve had many false writing starts, and I’m going to share them with you today, including an extract of Decent Land: The Dance of the Gator’s second proper chapter. I’ll leave that until the end.
It’s been my hope to return here several times, but have struggled to find a small, easy and simple project that I could express myself through while deliberately giving my novel a break. On their own, none of these pieces seemed enough…
